ART REVIEW OF OLUMIDE ORESEGUN

Nothing captures the eyes like a glorious painting. Ever since I was a kid, it has always been my dream to be a world reknown painter. Due to situation of so many things and country issues, the plan has been on hold but definitely not derailed. I believe in having basic foundation knowledge, which refers to mastering the art of drawing.
The painting above was done by Oresegun Olumide, a 35-year-old man, who majored in Fine Art at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated with a distinction.

The use of water gives a translucent effect and he said "that is why it’s difficult for many people to do”. Drawing inspiration from his community, he creates pieces that reflect the lives of those around him. He has been featured on CNN and many other popular websites. I just can’t wait to get my hands on a paintbrush. (Hey! It’s okay if you haven’t achieved success in your 20s).

PENCIL PORTRAIT OF A CLIENT

In order to gain popularity and get more commissions. It’s highly imperative that one must indulge in the art of drawing people for free, but hey! Not just anybody, people that matter. Decided to draw the Local Government Inspector of my district where I serve (NYSC can be fun a times). the shading of the face did not come out as smooth as I wanted, had not acquired my paper stumps, blended with my fingers. (such a drab).

nothing much to say.., follow up progress reports.

"PENCIL PORTRAIT OF MUHAMMADU BUHARI"

For the first time ever, I’m so glad about who became the current president of my country. Finally, light at the end of the tunnel, after a 16 year rule of the “you know who” party. Things have never looked so good; the election went smoothly and transparently. Felt like I owed the great retired military strategist a portrait. (If only he could see this). Used a 4b pencil on an A3 paper, took about two weeks.
