MONALISA CHARCOAL DRAWING VERSION 2

Finally, I’m done with my 1st portrait of the year, another remake of the previous artwork. (All hail Da Vinci). Was tedious, took a month plus. Used charcoal pencils all the way on white pelican paper, hey! There’s no fun in making a remake of an artwork (Psst! unless the reward is too good to refuse). Can’t really say which was one was better, the previous or the new one, you decide.

IT’S 2016!!!!

Congratulations to everyone that made it to the New Year, wish you all the best, better health, greater wealth. Even during the holidays, when I thought I had escaped from art for a while, it still found me. (sighs). Still had commissions coming in, haven’t been able to embark on any personal project yet. After, the Monalisa artwork I made (all hail Leonardo Da Vinci!). My dad demanded I make another version, damn! So tiring, I should be done before February hopefully. I can’t wait to see how it is going to turn out due to my recent improvement. I used charcoal pencils all the way, but at first, made outlines and grid using a mechanical pencil with 2B lead. I really wish I start my painting training this year; prismacolour pencils are like Holy Grail in this part of the world, to order online costs a fortune. And Staedler colour pencils are good but of inferior quality to prismacolour or Faber-castell colour pencils. Anyways, I hope we all achieve our dreams this year in good health and not disappoint our benefactors.

Well, here lies the progress report of this grand masterpiece, wasn't easy. used white pelican paper.

CHARCOAL PENCIL ART REPLICA OF "MONA-LISA" PORTRAIT

I never ever thought the day would come whereby I would have to make a replica of a great artist’s artwork, not to mention the all-time greatest painting made by Leonardo Da Vinci. I was working in my art studio and then I overheard my step-grandma reminiscing her visit to France, Louvre museum to be exact. How she wished she could purchase the painting (like hell would that ever happen). So, I thought about making her a replica, monochrome form of course (it’s still killing me that I haven’t learnt painting yet). I got to work, took me a month due to my very busy schedule of teaching and working for my NYSC state magazine group, Ibadan, Nigeria. Used a combo of pencils and charcoal pencils, eventually I finished. Then my granddad saw how good it was and claimed it for himself (The Joker’s chuckle). Now I have to make another one, (sigh).
